Petter Eide, a member of Norway’s Socialist Left Party who sits in the Norwegian Parliament, has nominated Black Lives Matter (BLM) for the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to Eide, “To carry forward a movement of racial justice and to spread that to other countries is very, very important. Black Lives Matter is the strongest force today doing this, not only in the U.S. but also in Europe and in Asia.”
Eide added that his nomination of BLM for one of the most prestigious international awards is in line with the values espoused by the Nobel Prize Committee. “For the Nobel Prize Committee, this is not unusual to link a fight for racial justice, to link that with peace … There will be no peace without justice,” Eide said.
Funny that Eide would say such a thing. One of the main slogans BLM repeated while rioting, looting, destroying property, and causing general mayhem over the past several months has been: “No justice, no peace.”
In response to the nomination, BLM tweeted, “We hold the largest social movement in global history. Today, we have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. People are waking up to our global call: for racial justice and an end to economic injustice, environmental racism, and white supremacy. We’re only getting started.”
First, BLM is not the largest social movement in world history. Second, BLM’s global call is a Marxist message that aims to redistribute wealth on a racial basis, destroy the nuclear family, and defund the police.
BLM is not interested in peace. BLM is anti-peace. Is it peaceful to topple statues of America’s founding fathers? Is it peaceful to set police departments on fire? Is it peaceful to chant “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon” while marching against the police? Is it peaceful to destroy and loot minority-owned businesses in inner cities? Is it peaceful to stoke racial division based on falsehoods about white police officers murdering “unarmed” black men? BLM supporters have done all of those things, and much more.
How can BLM, a group that routinely engages in wanton violence, particularly against those who are responsible for keeping the peace: police officers, be taken seriously as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize? In simple terms, BLM has no business being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
