AOC Sells ‘Tax the Rich’ Sweatshirts—And They Cost a Fortune

In what can only be described as one of the biggest cases of outright hypocrisy in recent memory, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), America’s most popular  socialist, has just unveiled  her new collection of campaign swag, and it costs a fortune.

In the apparel section, AOC is hawking “Tax the Rich” sweatshirts for a whopping $58. However, if that is too steep for AOC’s anti-capitalist minions, she is offering a wide variety of tee-shirts for $27.

If fashion is not your cup of tea, perhaps you would be interested in AOC’s collection of mugs, which go for $24. (That is for one mug, by the way, not a set of six.) AOC also offers reusable tote bags for $27, which is a great deal. It only costs about $26 more than the hundreds of tote bags available in grocery stores across the country!

Why the heck are these products so expensive? According to AOC, these one-of-a-kind mementos are made in the Unites States, which she claims accounts for the outrageous price tags. Call me cynical, but I think there might be a little more to the story than that. As crazy as it might sound, I think AOC is just trying to sell these products for–just wait for it–a profit! Yes, a profit, the most disgusting word in the English language for many people on the left these days.

Of course, AOC is not selling her pro-socialism products to provide for herself. Taxpayers are already doing that for her. She is doing it to raise campaign funds, which she plans to use to take even more money away from others, increase regulations, and limit capitalism. Or, put another way, AOC is using capitalism to stop capitalism. Can the hypocrisy really get any worse?

Actually, yes it can. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a self-avowed socialist and AOC’s mentor who rails on millionaires and billionaires incessantly, is himself a millionaire with three lavish homes–yes, three homes.

The next time Sanders, AOC, or any of their radical socialist comrades preach about the evils of capitalism, just remember that they live high on the hog while denigrating the very system that has led to their success.

If history has taught us anything, it’s that this kind of hypocrisy is par for the course in socialist systems, where the elite live like kings and the ordinary people live like paupers. But hey, at least if Bernie and AOC take power in America, we’ll all get really cool t-shirts, right?
