While campaigning for Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina and ambassador to the United Nations (and a woman many believe could someday run for president), issued a stark warning about socialism in the United States.
“Not enough people are talking about what happens whether the Republicans win the Senate or the Democrats win the Senate. If the Republicans win the Senate, Lindsey Graham will be our budget chair. If the Democrats win the Senate, you’re not ready, Bernie Sanders will be your Senate chair. That’s why this matters, ladies and gentleman, the Democratic Party is not your grandparent’s Democratic Party,” Haley said.
Unfortunately, Haley is right. The Democratic Party, as currently constructed, has embraced principles and policies that would make its forbearers roll over in their graves.
“This is the Democratic Party that believes you cancel anyone that doesn’t agree with you. They believe that you defund the police and stop taking care of those that serve us. They believe that socialism is the new way of life. And they think that you should put your lives and your health care in the hands of government,” Haley added.
Sadly, the Democratic Party has pivoted to the far-left end of the political spectrum in recent years. The party that once embraced liberal ideals such as freedom of speech now advocates for illiberal cancel culture and bans on what they deem as “offensive speech.”
The modern Democratic Party has also abandoned its fealty to the rule of law and those who serve and protect. Over the summer, several high-ranking Democratic officials defended the wanton destruction perpetrated by rioters and looters. Unsurprisingly, most Democrats were silent about the chaos wrought and lives lost during the summer of discontent.
Even worse, today’s Democratic Party, as Haley articulates, has embraced socialism on an unimaginable scale. From Medicare for All to the Green New Deal, prominent members of the Democratic Party are pushing for socialistic policies that would have been anathema to many of the party’s forefathers.
Moreover, key allies of the Democratic Party has infiltrated academia, cultural institutions, and social media, all in an attempt to mainstream far-left socialistic policies–a key reason why socialism has gained such popularity among America’s youth.
They also understand that government dependence begets more government dependence, which is why they are keen to keep the lockdowns going and the government goodies coming.
What the far left wants is to fundamentally transform the country–and not for the better. Hopefully, Americans will take Haley’s warnings seriously, thereby avoiding the inevitable economic, cultural, and societal disasters that have plagued so many socialist and socialistic countries of the past.
