Disgusting: AOC Celebrates Collapsing Oil Prices

Alexandria-Ocasio-Cortez

The Left, especially the socialist wing of the Left, has since its creation painted itself as the champion of the “little guy.” And no matter how many times they have ruined economies, imprisoned dissenters, or done even worse, socialists have continued to argue that if only they had more power, the world would be a much better place.

Now, it’s true that your average Joe Socialist walking down the streets of Boulder, Colorado on his way to his next Antifa protest genuinely believes, against all logic, history, and reason, that socialism will actually improve the lives of others. But some socialist leaders—like comrade Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)—have a very different motivation. They’re power-hungry and desperate to be in the spotlight.

Although AOC and her socialist friends are usually pretty good about hiding their motives, every now and then, they make the grave mistake of saying what they really think, and when they do, it’s evident for the world to see that above all else, socialists want to win, no matter how much others have to suffer for that to occur.

On Monday, Ocasio-Cortez once again proved that she’s more interested in achieving her radical agenda that she is helping people when she celebrated the collapse of global oil prices, which, of course, was terrible news for millions of people who work for businesses closely tied to the success of the U.S. oil and gas industries.

In a post on Twitter that she later deleted, Ocasio-Cortez wrote in reaction to the news that oil prices dropped below $0, “You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *cough*”

The “worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure” she referenced in her tweet was a not-so-subtle promotion of her socialist Green New Deal plan, the most radical, dangerous, destructive policy proposal in modern American history.

Given our current economic climate, it’s disgusting that a member of Congress would celebrate horrible economic news, especially since so many who work in the energy industry support families. But what more should we expect from Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, who turns virtually every tragedy into a political opportunity? (And that’s not an exaggeration, either. On the same day, she referred the fall of oil as a “key opportunity” to promote her socialist agenda.)
